After Pushing AV1 Codec, Google Goes After Dolby With HDR And Audio Standards

Image
Google can do basically whatever it wants regarding video and web standards . YouTube is the world's most popular video site. Chrome is the world's most popular browser. Android is the world's most popular operating system. Anything Google wants to roll out can immediately have a sizable user base of clients, servers, and content. From there, it's just a matter of getting a few partners to tag along. This is how Google's next-generation AV1 video codec is being rolled out, and next, Google is setting its sights on HDR and 3D audio standards. Protocol's Janko Roettgers has a report on "Project Caviar," Google's plan to take on Dolby and create royalty-free alternatives to its HDR standard (Dolby Vision) and its 3D audio standard (Dolby Atmos). New Google Issue May Affect Ad Serving

Image
It’s just not Google’s week… month… or year. Today, Google Ads Liason Ginny Marvin just posted to Twitter that they’re currently aware of an internal issue impacting ads serving. Here’s what she said. Is this related to the other Ads Manager issues they’ve reported this month ? We’re not sure. The Tweet is too vague to know what precisely is happening. This sounds familiar. Yesterday, we reported on other outages and “updates” from Google affecting publishers. This new issue could be related, but we’re not sure. Check that out here . Why do we care . The constant outages and issues from Google are getting a little out of hand, don’t you think ? Maybe it seems like a lot because we report on them, but, correct me if I’m wrong , we don’t see this many issues from Facebook or Instagram, or even Microsoft for that matter. Google’s Googleyness here is lacking. CONTACT US . . +92-302-800-4695 MHWORLDPK@GMAIL.COM
